Dear Friends and Family,

I have been asked to serve on the third annual Dental & Health & Wellness Mission Trip with Evergreen4kids. Our team will be a combination of dental professionals and others called to serve the village of Habanero in the Dominican Republic. Evergreen4kids is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization that built and funds a school in this small village which is about 65 miles from the Haitian border. More information regarding the Dominican Republic and the town of Habanero can be found here: http://evergreen4kids.org/html/where_we_are.html.

Last year the Dental Team was able to serve over 280 villagers over a 9 day mission. Our Health and Wellness Team served over 125 children in the school as well as about 50 children outside of the school. We hope this year’s team will be able to serve even more while in the DR from June 19 to June 27, 2011

Evergreen4kids is 100% volunteers and 100% of funds raised goes to children’s programs. We do not use any funds for solicitation or administration. Evergreen4kids has no dreams of becoming a giant size organization – we are just trying to do what we can for the children of this one small village. I hope you will consider extending your hand as we extend ours to these children in need.

What do we do for Evergreen 4 Kids in the Dominican Republic?

        • Create programs that teach children how to stay healthy
        • Create an “Operation Clean up” – teaching the community about caring for the environment: composting and recycling; garbage clean up!
        • Educate parents through community education – utilizing the school as a hub for health
        • Introduce concepts about sustaining and utilizing their land and community more effectively
        • Deliver food, clothes and necessities to outlying villages
        • Help families who cannot afford trips to the clinic for health care
        • Play and have fun with the children

**The BIG project we have going is the fence we want to build around the school. This fence is necessary to keep out farm animals and other individuals who may not utilize the space for what it is intended. Additionally, we would like to plant crops on the school property that can help sustain the community, teach the children how to cultivate the land and respect and honor their space.

***Eventually we want to create jobs for these people so they can sustain themselves. Currently Brenda “employs” a handful of women in the community to care for and educate the children. We want more than a handful to be employed and working for the love of their community.

Everything used on the trip must be taken with us. This includes all supplies such as soap, toothbrushes, medicines, syringes, fillings, needles, rubber gloves and gauze. This trip is funded entirely through generous supporters. Fund-raisers are being held by those going on the trip. Every penny collected will be used to directly benefit the people we serve. Any unused supplies will be used on the next mission trip.

The cost of this trip is $1,300.00 per person, and the trip is funded entirely through generous supporters. Our group will consist of five members and we are combining the funds that we raise through letters and fundraising efforts. Our target is $7,000. Every penny collected will be used to directly benefit the people we serve.
I am honored to serve on this trip. I am seeking your prayers and support for this trip.

If you are able to assist financially, donations can be made online at http://evergreen4kids.org/html/donations.html. Please indicate that your gift is for the Health & Wellness (Debbie) mission. Or you may forward your gift to me in a check payable to Evergreen4kids or send a check to Evergreen4kids noting your gift is for the Health & Wellness team.

Your gift is tax deductible and will go toward any and all items our Health and Wellness Team needs. Even a small donation can go a long way. In fact, if every recipient of this letter only gave $5, we would be $1500 closer to our goal.

To learn more about Evergreen4kids and their work in the Dominican Republic visit www.Evergreen4kids.org.If you prefer to send a check please contact me directly.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and your support.

Love and gratitude!

Debbie Duncan
